same as a regular …
same as a regular house bro, also you can always find people willing to help
lassiecox, you …
lassiecox, you clearly don’t get the point do you?
You know what, just keep believing those from your government and the oil companies. Just keep on shopping like you normally do, just keep on working for utility companies for the rest of your life and then everything will be OK.
Yeah. We are made …
Yeah. We are made to believe that we can only change our lifestyle when it is stylish too or we are told too. We are not small children, we mustn’t be told what to do with ourselves. We should be as people somewhat self sufficient in the world and in ourselves.
Evolution not revolution.
lol i didn’t call …
lol i didn’t call you lazy. i said if. and it was a general you, not you in particular.
but they are saying that the tire and earth are a much better insulation than concrete and wood. and of course that’s true, if you’ve ever been underground you immediately can see how the earth insulates very well. The tires should be the least of your worries. I wouldn’t expect anyone to build their own home though, hire someone else to do it.
So do the majority …
So do the majority of the plastics in the world around us, also aluminum causes Alzheimer’s.
There’s toxins in the air, in the public water, the food either has hormones or is genetically modified for the most part.
Its all true, look it up.
Also Cannabis may cause testicular cancer in youths, but it cures lots of other kinds of cancer and may prevent Alzheimer’s. It not only doesn’t cause brain damage but it may help protect brain cells.
it’s not a good …
it’s not a good idea to use tires for building. they leach dangerous chemicals and they can vaporize in a fire. likewise it’s not a good idea to make tire ponds or to use them in a garden, despite what the older permaculture books say.
Sustainable …
Sustainable building practices go beyond energy and water conservation to incorporate environmentally sensitive site planning, resource efficient building materials and superior indoor environmental quality.
Well i might keep …
Well i might keep the concept but alter it a bit such as use concrete blocks instead of tires.Face facts most people just arent going to do this….its too labor intensive. Its not neccesarily laziness that prevents people from doing this but time…physical ability etc.And how the do you know if im lazy or not?
if you are that …
if you are that lazy i’m sure he could provide people that would do maintenance for you. Would seem like nothing to come up with that. But it strikes me that there wouldn’t be a whole lot of labor after the house is built. but if you’re saying to build the house, they said they can do it all for you.
Below earth living …
Below earth living has been with us since the cave man age, below the frostline the atmosphereic temperature is nice, north, or south. Solar panels for electricity with batteries is not new. Mist showers are old, sand filtration, composting is not new. There is nothing new in this guys designs, he is just looking for a mark
Overall the concept …
Overall the concept is perfect but possibly a little to labor intensive for wide acceptance.
Taos is frozen half …
Taos is frozen half the year, it is 7,000+ ft high and gets real cold. It also sees 90+ degrees in summer. I grew up in one and it never had any issues as long as we had wood for the stove.
smart guy…..great …
smart guy…..great ideas
cool!
he’s …
cool!
he’s a genius!!! i would never of thought of that!!
Genius! A …
Genius! A brilliantly driven man with compassion for people and the planet. Evolving with the earth…..now…. If I could only get my husband on board for one of his houses.
hahah you
hahah you
I love Michael …
I love Michael Reynolds’ work, but I’m frustrated that his designs never appear to confront challenges like frost heave in northern climates. His buildings can remain warm in cold temperatures; that’s shown in the movie. Yet, he doesn’t seem to show whether the thermal mass foundation will withstand the expansion and contraction of the surrounding earth. Anyone know if he’s shown that since?
*claps*

I knew I wasn’t the …
I knew I wasn’t the only one that thought this was possible. Michael Reynolds, you are a genius in my eyes. Love you ideas and concepts. Keep building.
We used baby …
We used baby diapers compressed.they never burn or decay

Could you build an …
Could you build an earthship to an arctic climate?
yes.. hmmm.. …
yes.. hmmm.. reasonable.
impressive. Needs …
impressive. Needs to be more of it.
Michael Reynolds presents solutions to living more sustainably. It all starts by rethinking what are our needs and wants and incoporating green steps that lessen our environmental impact. Yes, I agree, there needs to be more green designs, structures and systems like Michael Reynolds’.
